About RESMD

On behalf of USAID, IRG is working with counterpart governments and regional agencies in the Europe and Eurasia region:

  • To promote cooperation among the major E&E energy importing countries on policy and strategies to improve energy security and create transparent, competitive regional energy markets;
  • To establish a common regulatory framework that facilitates trade and investment and diversification of gas supplies;
  • To create a transparent, reliable regional electricity market in South East Europe and, potentially the Black Sea, that will stimulate investment in new generation, transmission, and distribution facilities as well as facilitate trade that takes into account the diverse resources in the region; and
  • To stimulate sound investments in energy efficiency and clean energy technologies that can reduce import dependency and improve environmental performance including mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.

Selected deliverables from our ongoing work are posted under Deliverables.
